Who We Are
We are proud to receive the BarclayHedge Top 10 ranking award in long/short equity fund performance for the year of 2015.
Jeffrey Halper, Managing Partner
Mr. Halper has been active in the retail and apparel industries for over 35 years. In 1983, Mr. Halper started and was President and CEO of Body Action Design (B.A.D), a ladies contemporary sportswear company. Mr. Halper was principally responsible for design, manufacturing, finance, distribution and marketing of B.A.D. nationwide to department and specialty stores until 2003. Prior to founding B.A.D., in 1981 Mr. Halper started The American Dream, a multi-rep sales and marketing organization, which represented various apparel manufacturers from the West Coast in New York City. Mr. Halper began his career in the apparel industry at San Francisco Shirtworks, where he worked for 10 years beginning in 1972 as a sales representative, ultimately rising to the position of Vice President. Mr. Halper graduated from Rider University in 1968 with a B.S. in Finance. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and was on active duty. Mr. Halper is married and resides in Old Westbury, New York. He and his wife have two children.
While working in the apparel industry, Mr. Halper was engaged on a personal basis in seeking out investments for his own account in publicly traded apparel retailers and manufacturers, many of which he had become familiar with during his career in the retail and apparel industries. Mr. Halper worked briefly for one registered investment adviser and one family office. Mr. Halper has invested a substantial portion of his liquid net worth in the Partnership. Mr. Halper’s investment closely aligns the interests of the General Partner with those of the Partnership’s investors, as well as reflects Mr. Halper’s confidence in his own ability to pursue the Partnership’s investment strategy.
Retail Apparel Partners, L.P. was formed in July 2004 to transfer Mr. Halper's edge in forecasting the ‘long and short’ of fashion into profiting from the ‘longs and shorts’ of apparel-related stocks.
